Evelyn Adjoa Mensah first revealed her creative talents as a jewellery artist at just seven years old when she decided to make herself a ring out of copper wire. In addition to being a jewellery designer, she graduated as a medical doctor from Imperial College, London and specialised as an ophthalmologist at Moorfield Eye Hospital. She is now a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in the UK. The fine skills, manual dexterity and attention to detail required to be an ophthalmic surgeon has certainly helped Adjoa Mensah with her unique jewellery creations.
The desire to design and make jewellery was due to a continuous lack of personal satisfaction in finding jewellery that was original, well made but also exclusive. Her early jewellery pieces generated a lot of interest from family, friends and complete strangers. As a result, she was encouraged to establish Adjoa Mensah as a jewellery business. She decided early on to make her jewellery an essential accessory for the discerning but fashionable woman by using the highest quality precious metals, diamonds, coloured gemstones and fresh water pearls. She continues to produce her innovative and eye catching beautifully coloured designs through inspiration from a 'higher source'.
Adjoa Mensah has successfully completed several courses at the Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) and is a member of the British Jewellers' Association (BJA). |
